Comet Catalina meets Arcturus


A few days ago, Comet Catalina sped by the bright star Arcturus on its way toward the Big Dipper.  Enterprising astronomical photographers caught pictures of this rendesvous.






This Friday and Saturday, the 15th and 16th of January, the comet makes its closest approach to the stars of Ursa Major. I might try to find it with binoculars if the clouds and the temperatures cooperate.
