Back in 2016, I did a Lighthouse of the Week about the Rubjerg Knude lighthouse in Denmark. This is a lighthouse that is no longer working, mainly because the coastal sand dunes have engulfed it. As the dunes engulf it and the sea moves closer, Denmark had to do something.
So they're moving it. It's been done before with other lighthouses, so it is certainly not unprecedented. And they aren't moving it too far.
Danish lighthouse is put on wheels and shifted 263ft away from the crumbling coastline...at a steady 26ft per hour
