Second of three sonnets in a row.
it's not so far away
A journey of short distance still can cross
some fundamental boundaries, so I
must scope it carefully; a loss
of reason could allow whatever my
adventuresome imagination might
envision to be real, despite the chance
of gentle danger from illusion's bright
attractiveness -- and if some sights entrance
my vision like mirages o'er the sands
of empty quarters, then my quest might stray
away from where my resolution stands
unchallenged by my conscience, when the day
is by bewitching night beguiled, and wise
excitement is my personal disguise.
