An August sonnet

This one has a very atypical rhyme scheme for a sonnet:  4 triplets and a couplet.  Definitely gives it a different tone.

the lure of unreality

The chasm that divides us is unbreach-
able, because for me you are unreach-
able; and yet I still conceive a beach
that you and I would wholly solely share.
And what could you and I discover there?
Each other, I would hope -- our bodies bare,
our passions bright, primordial, the new
we do not know, the known that we pursue
because we share awards that shall accrue
from mutual affections. What I feed
to you delivers me, and as you plead
in ecstasy I fill your life with seed -
and as we are by passion's pleasures bound,
there we are joined by light and truth and sound.
